Other Notes

The tested system was a fully redundant Titan Active/Active dual node
cluster with all standard protection services enabled, including RAID,
NVRAM logging, NVRAM mirroring and media error scrubbing. BlueArc's
Titan SiliconServer employs Field Programable Gate Arrays (FPGA) to
accelerate NFS and CIFS file services.
There are 7 FPGA's involved in handling NFS requests.
The FPGA's were loaded with BlueArc's Silicon FileSystem v5 firmware
The 17.5 GB of Other_cache_size is cache used by the FPGA's,
and is distributed on the various modules of the server as part
of the distributed processing architecture of Titan.
The test system included eight, dual controller FC-14 disk arrays
where each FC-14C has a single FC-14E expansion enclosure connected to it.
Each LU is a 12+P RAID5 pack, one LU assigned to each controller.
Each disk array contained two hot spare disks.
Each cluster node was the owner of one file system.
Each filesystem is striped over eight LUs.
The redundant disk array controllers were each attached to two
separate Brocade FC fabric switches to provide redundant paths.
The redundant FC Controllers on both cluster nodes were all active
and attached to the two separate Brocade FC fabric switches.
In the event of the failure of any component on a data path, traffic
is automatically routed through the other.
Server tuning: (Standard Customer Tunables)
- Disable file read-ahead "fsm read-ahead 0 0"
- Disable shortname generation for CIFS clients "shortname -g off"
- Server running in "Native Unix" security mode.
- Set metadata cache bias to small files: "fsm cache-bias --small-files"
The SMU provides a system management interface for the complete Titan storage solution.
The cluster interface is a dual, gigabit Ethernet (GE) interface.
This cluster GE interface is separate to the quad gigabit Ethernet interfaces listed
under Network Configuration
