Other Notes

The server has a single RapidFile FCX2400 card, hosting dual 2 Gb/sec FC ports, dual 1 Gb/sec Ethernet
ports, and 256MB onboard cache.
Cache on RapidFile is unstable, and is used as read/write data cache.
Complying with NFSv3 standard, RapidFile NFS server software will reply with UNSTABLE to a WRITE procedure,
and will delay reply to a COMMIT procedure, until the data was successfully written to the disk array
Both FC ports on the server and 2 ports from each of the two EMC CX500 disk arrays are attached to the FC switch.
There are 6 load generators with 24 PROCS each.
3 Ethernet ports from LGs 1,3,5 and first Ethernet port from server are connected to one Ethernet switch.

Storage array notes:
There are 2 EMC Clariion CX500 disk arrays connected through an IBM 3534-F08 Fiber Channel 16 port switch
All FC connections are 2Gbps.
Each EMC presents 6 RAID0 LUNs to the server.
Every 2 LUNs are striped across 15 disks.
This means 45 disks per EMC, and 90 disks in total.
The stripe size for all 12 RAID-0 LUNs was 128KB and each LUN was 50GB.
Prefetching was turned off on all LUNs.
Page size on disks array was 4K.
There was 1 file system per LUN.
Each file system was formatted as EXT2 with the default 4K allocation size.
Each storage array has dual storage processor units that work as
an active-active failover pair. The mirrored write cache is backed up
with a battery unit capable of saving the write cache to disk in the event of
a power failure. In the event of a storage array failure, the second
storage processor unit is capable of saving all state that was managed
by the first (and vise-versa), even with a simultaneous power failure.
When one of the storage processors or battery units are off-line, the
system turns off the write cache and writes directly to disk before
acknowledging any write operations.
The length of time the battery can support the retention of data is 2
minutes - that is sufficient to write all necessary data twice.
Storage processor A could have written 99% of its memory to disk and
then fail. In that case storage processor B has enough battery to
store its copy of A's data as well as its own.
RapidFile FCX2400 includes an on-board FPGA acting as a 3-way bridge between host, FC controller and NIC,
capable of breaking a TCP stream into individual NFS requests and separating the payload from the control information.
Payload is directed to the on-board memory, while control information (including all NFS protocol headers),
is directed to the host CPU for processing.
