Platform Settings for Altos Intel-based servers
Firmware / BIOS / Microcode Settings
- DCU Streamer Prefetcher
- Allows users to configure the overall power and performance policy for the system, which adjusts a predefined set of options accordingly.
- The default setting of this option is "Enable".
- Power Performance Tuning
- Allows the OS or BIOS to control the system's Energy Performance Bias setting.
- The default setting of this option is "OS Controls EPB".
- [OS Controls EPB] The Energy Performance Bias setting is controlled by the OS.
- [BIOS Controls EPB] The Energy Performance Bias setting is controlled by the BIOS.
- SNC (Sub-NUMA Cluster)
- Divides the LLC into multiple clusters based on address ranges to improve data locality and reduce average LLC access latency.
- The default setting of this option is "AUTO".
- [AUTO] Automatically selects the setting based on the silicon's preferred value.
- [Enable SNC2 (2-clusters)] SNC2 divides the CPU socket into two clusters, creating two NUMA domains per socket.
- [Disable] Disable Sub-NUMA Cluster.
- LLC Dead Line Alloc
- Controls whether dead lines evicted from the MLC can be allocated into the LLC when free space is available.
- The default setting of this option is "Enable".
- Patrol Scrub
- Controls whether the system proactively scans memory to detect and repair correctable errors.
- The default setting of this option is "Enable".
- drop_caches
- Writing 3 to this setting causes the Linux kernel to drop clean page cache and reclaimable slab objects such as dentries and inodes. The reclaimed memory becomes available for reuse. Set through "sysctl -w vm.drop_caches=3" to free page cache and reclaimable slab objects.
