Platform Settings for Altos AMD-based servers

Firmware / BIOS / Microcode Settings

Performance Mode
Allows the user to set an overall power and performance policy for the system.
The default settings of this option is "Balance".
[Balance] Optimization balances performance and energy efficiency.
[Performance] Optimization is strongly toward performance, even at the expense of energy efficiency.
[Custom] Allows users to manually configure system parameters according to their specific requirements.
NUMA Nodes Per Socket
Specifies the number of NUMA nodes per socket. This option allows the memory of each socket to be divided into multiple NUMA nodes to optimize memory bandwidth.
The default settings of this option is "AUTO".
[AUTO] Automatically determines the NUMA configuration based on the processor's preferred setting.
[NPS0] Memory is interleaved across the two processor sockets.
[NPS1] Each processor socket has one NUMA memory node.
[NPS2] Each processor socket has two NUMA memory nodes.
[NPS4] Each processor socket has four NUMA memory nodes.
PPT Control
Allows the user to set a customized processor package power limit (PPT).
The default settings of this option is "AUTO".
[Auto] Use the fused PPT value.
[Manual] Allows the user to set the PPT value.
PPT
Allows the user to set a customized processor Package Power Limit (PPT) value for all populated processors in the system.
TDP Control
This BIOS option is for "Configurable TDP (cTDP)", it allows user can set customized value for TDP.
The default settings of this option is "AUTO".
[Auto] Use the fused TDP value.
[Manual] Allows the user to set the TDP value.
TDP
Allows the user to set a customized processor Configurable TDP (cTDP) value for all populated processors in the system.
drop_caches
Writing 3 to this setting causes the Linux kernel to drop clean page cache and reclaimable slab objects such as dentries and inodes. The reclaimed memory becomes available for reuse. Set through "sysctl -w vm.drop_caches=3" to free page cache and reclaimable slab objects.
